I love food, but cooking I doubt!
I share a love and hate kind of relationship with cooking. What I love is the outcome of cooking i.e food, but don’t forget soiled utensils and messed up kitchen racks also come along with good food. I would like cause your imagination more discomfort by reminding about the choked kitchen sinks. All of it is part of cooking. And for sure I might I have missed a point or two because I rarely cook.
It’s not that I can’t cook, but I prefer to invest my time and energy in making sweet dishes(the best excuse to avoid cooking)and that’s the reason I rarely cook. Recently I had been obsessed with the idea of making modak for Ganesh Chaturthi and here are my cute little modaks!
Today I discovered another fact about cooking.
Cooking can de-stress your soul. If you think only coffee has the power to purify your soul, I think you must re-think what you think. (Silly exaggeration is a must)
Have you ever wondered the amount of violence that goes into cooking?
Cutting
Chopping
Frying
Freezing
Beating eggs?
Kneading the dough as if you are practicing punching someone’s face๐
My newfound experience about cooking has increased my chances of entering the kitchen to prepare lunch, not because I want to help my mother but because I want to de-stress myself!
And I think it also has to do something with colours and textures. Since kitchen is the only place in the house where most of the magic happens.
All of us have different views about cooking, I am the lazy cook who’ll stir fry all the available vegetables with all the available spices and yet make something eatable, that’s called talent!
A decent understanding about digestible permutations and combinations is enough! And if nothing else works, a dash of coriander leaves can balance any dish!
To stay calm, keep cooking!
