Ramblings about Identity

By

The people we meet in our teens create an invariable impact on our mind and our lives forever. It is during those years the human mind starts becoming cognizant about events happening around. Those events can either make a person or break a person.

Once we get down from the rollercoaster ride of the teenage years, we move into our early twenties, which I think is a phase where the body has grown into an adult but the mind still craves for the teenage romanticism.

We made a great mistake by dissociating from our learning journey after the age of say 22-23. We started associating the degree with our level of cognisance.

Cognisance is awareness and wisdom is more about staying still. Allowing the universal clock to sway its hands the way it wants and watching it with our cognizant eyes from afar. But then again let’s not forget that foolishness is just one step away from being “wise” or “mature” as they say it. Because Ego. It’s always there, somewhere hiding behind those big words and reluctance to see the world from new perspectives.

Wisdom seems like something as serene as a canopy. Intelligence is something that builds inside us brick by brick. It has no state to be reached. It is continuous like the air. Intelligence embraces all forms of nuances, it is rather more open-minded than wisdom. It does not stay quiet, it speaks and makes a difference. Smartness on the other hand is what is required to live this life. Smartness feeds the hungry and at the same time takes away food from the plates of those who are deprived.

It seems, thinking, at times is not our natural reflex. Humans, most of the time, tend to go with the flow. They mostly do what’s socially acceptable. And for most of the time, this approach simplifies life. Less thinking is less worrying and better living I suppose.

The more we try building ships of our self-existence, the more we are either drawn into its abysmal depths or thrown across the shores. And those are the few ways of creating our identity.

Identity, if at all it exists.
